Welcome to a Tutorial of The World. This is designed both for people who've never played .hack games, or those who don't know how The World works as a Forum. let's begin.
//Chapter 1 || The Interactive World//
The World R:X is very special indeed. it projects the conciousness of it's players directly into their PC bodies. Such as the Tsukasa incident(sign) or the Mass Hallucination Incident (G.U.). The Users can feel, smell, hear, and taste everything as if it were realy there. There are no limitations on phisical interactions. The only exception to this rule in that it is impossible to "call" weapons in Root Towns or in Lost Grounds.
To "call" weapons, a User, rather than pushing a button, simply thinks about it, and it happens. As for interactions in root towns (ordering beverages and meals at Taverns, trading with people, shops, guild services, inventory, equiptment, and Chaos Gate operation.) there is a mentaly initiated menu that pops up in front of them, it is about 1ft. by 1ft. transparent menu.
Got it? good. let's move on then, shall we?
//Chapter 2 || Combat//
Battle is still initiated when a character comes within a cirtain distance of monsters that have spotted him, or by sneak attacks (now needing to actualy be sneaky). The only difference is that now, Battle is litteraly dependent on the users ability as a fighter. The users body, however is completely accusomed to the fighting, so their reaction speed, and strength, really fights the battle for them, almost, untill the user's real conciousness surpasses that of the character.
A battle between two users is initiated when the first hostile move is made, then the Battle fence (a forcefield that prevents escaping) comes up around them and their battle to the death commences.
Besides the machanical differences, The typical ascpects of Battle (HP, Sp, etc...) work the same way. user's stats are seen hovering above thier heads. to see your own stats, a small hologram hovers above your right forearm. the red line is your HP and the Blue is your SP.
//Chapter 3 || Arena Battles//
Arena battles, in essence, work the same as they did before. except that now the battles are more interactive. the Battle fence is still the edge of the circular ring you fight on. with the exception of the sage palace tournament, which doesn't have a battle fence. if you are knocked off of the arena, you instantly died, and become a ghost at the place you were when you fell.
registration for the tournaments are made through a menu similar to the ones in other Root towns. from that menu you can also select limit and other types of Arena Battles that aren't part of the tournament. you can also acess the Arena Rankings through this menu.
to buy a ticket, you must pay ofcourse. and you must report (but not post more than once in) the arena Thread. This, ofcourse, is only for roleplay reasons, because obviously anyone who wants to can view the thread.
//Chapter 4 || Intentionaly Meeting Other Users//
Intentionaly meeting other characters in an Area or Root town can be done multiple ways.
The first way is to E-mail the person or persons you want to meet. THE SENDER IS EXPECTED TO POST THE THREAD. this is in the rules. if you summoned people, you are expected to post first. it's just common curteousy. when you E-mail other characters make sure it's clear where you want to meet them, and who is sending it. technicaly you don't need to make your E-mails too in-character, since no one else will be seeing them, but please watch your FlashMails.
Flashmails are away of instant contact if The World if you don't want to send an E-mail. To send someone a Flash Mail who isn't in the same thead as you are, simply post your Flash Mail in the Thread they are in. If you are going to send a Flash Mail to someone, please be in character, and put your name above your Flash Mail and your message text in a Quote box for instance:
SHERATON HAS SENT YOU A FLASH MAIL
Like that. if you don't know how to use Quotes from the quick reply box use the characters: [ and ] with 'Quote' in between them, type your Message, and then write: [/ and ] with 'Quote' in between them. remember that. Knowing a little BBcode is good when RPing.
If your characters know each other off line, and you would like to Call them on their cell phone (I do not recomend this) Then simply post a message in the thread they are currently in and do it. be forewarned, you may be subject to anger by the other people in that thread.
//Profiles//
If you have read this than put a at the bottom of your profile.
//Chapter 5 || Lazeth's Game//
There are along of things that changed because of Lazeth's appearance.
---Dying
you cannot truely 'die' within The World, unless Lazeth deletes you. Instead, whenever you are defeated by a foe or monster, you're PC disappears and you re-spawn at the Chaos Gate at Mac Anu or whatever Server you died in.
---Lazeth's Quests
Lazeth likes to screw with people. So every once in a while he'll create a Quest of his own that will put specific players to the test. He will ask the player to do this or that, with failure to accomplish the task resulting in Deletion. Though most Quests are deliberate and arbitrary, this type of Quest is mandatory unless you want to directly tangle with Lazeth.
---Surprise Surprise!
Lazeth has people working for him, promising some of them exemption from deletion, and to others power. He sends them on certain tasks, and they will often times be inclined to make trouble for players they encounter. If you encounter players like these, it is most likely a special event, so you should try your hardest not to die.
